Enhance Communication by Reducing ‘Very’

Overusing “very” makes you sound less clear.

The overuse of “very” is caused by a lack of vocabulary.

It’s okay to use it, but if you use “very” to describe things too often, your communication will sound lazy, and your messaging won’t be as effective.

To prevent this, try substituting it with a more specific word.

For example, instead of saying “very angry,” say “furious.”

Instead of saying “very big,” say “massive.

Instead of saying “very fast,” say “quick.”

This change will make you a more concise communicator.

If this interests you, the best way to learn the substitutes is to increase your vocabulary.

The most effective way of doing this is by reading.

You can read anything, but I find fiction novels do a better job teaching vocabulary than non-fiction.

Again, it doesn’t matter what you read, just as long as you do it.

So, pick up a book, read it and learn some new words.
